abstract

the objective of the present study was to determine polymorphism within the promoter region of somatotropin receptor genes in indigenous sistani cattle (bos indicus) and associations between this polymorphism and breeding value of birth weight. the pedigree structure was included by considering 1173 animals with 600 progeny birth weight data obtained from a zhark breeding station in sistan and baluchistan. heritability was estimated for birth weight using different univariate models with the derivative-free approach of restricted maximum likelihood algorithm (dfreml). the average weight of each birth was 23.9 ± 3.16 kg. the effects of non-genetic factors were significant (p

Lack of Association between ctla-4 A49G Polymorphism and Vitiligo

Background: Vitiligo is an acquired skin disorder that selectively destroys melanocytes in epidermis with an unknown etiology.   Objective: To investigate the exon 1 A49G polymorphism of cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen-4 (ctla-4) gene in vitiligo patients.   Methods: The A49G polymorphism was detected by Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method in 101...

the study of aaag repeat polymorphism in promoter of errg gene and its association with the risk of breast cancer in isfahan region

Polymorphism of Prion Protein Gene (PRNP) in Iranian Holstein and Two Local Cattle Populations (Golpayegani and Sistani) of Iran

Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) is a fatal infectious neurodegenerative disease in cattle, characterized by the accumulation of an abnormal, proteaseresistant prion protein (PrPSc) in the brain. BSE is similar to scrapie in sheep and goats and Creuzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans. Susceptibility in cattle hasbeen shown to be under the influence of two polymorphic locations, which are...

Lack of Association between Promoter Gene Polymorphism (-318 C/T) and Multiple

Multiple sclerosis (MS), a chronic inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system is believed to have a T cell-mediated autoimmune etiology. The cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen 4 (CTLA-4) gene is a strong candidate for the involvement in autoimmune diseases. To examine the genetic association of the CTLA-4 gene locus with MS, in a case-control design, we analyzed (-318 C/T) sin...

lack of association between il-1 receptor antagonist gene 86bp vntr polymorphism and leiomyoma

background uterine leiomyoma (uls) is the most common gynecological tumor and a significant health concern for many women .the interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (il-1ra) is a naturally occurring cytokine inhibiting interleukin- 1 (il-1) activity by binding to the il-1 receptors without signal transduction. objectives the aim of this study was to investigate the association between interleukin-1...
